Arlington lands three company headquarters in a single night

It’s been a busy week as E-Space, GAC Media and Acciona Facility Services USA get one step closer to significant investments in the city.

The Arlington city council approved economic development agreements with three companies Tuesday, a move that further propels the surety of those organizations planting corporate bases in the city.

The city council gave the thumbs up to incentives for E-Space Inc., GAC Media LLC and Acciona Facility Services USA LLC — with the condition that all three place a headquarters of some kind in Arlington.

The largest of the deals involves E-Space placing its North American headquarters at Arlington Municipal Airport. The company offers a low-Earth-orbit space system for space-based Internet of Things services.

It currently has 95 employees between two offices in Massachusetts. E-Space’s plans include building out a 750,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility and office space with plans to create 2,000 jobs in its first decade. The agreement with the city narrowed in on a first phase that includes a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing and office facility, along with 40,000 square feet of hangar space. E-Space must also add 400 employees in Arlington in its first five years.

The city’s economic development corporation agreed to contribute up to $50 million to construct E-Space’s facilities, which the EDC would also own and lease. E-Space will also receive $50,000 for hiring grants and rebates of 50% of taxes paid on business personal property in 2025 and 2026. That tax breaks add up to about $944,000.

Arlington also greenlit GAC’s quest to shift its headquarters from Fort Worth to 2221 East Lamar Blvd. GAC Media, a family- and faith-focused entertainment company, is required to keep its base of operations in Arlington through 2027 and to produce Arlington promotional videos in exchange for $100,000 in grants.

GAC, which is behind a free, direct-to-consumer platform in part thought up by Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure, will shift its headquarters by the end of the year and bring with it a minimum of 20 jobs. GAC’s brands include Great American Family, Great American Pure Flix and Great American Faith & Living.

Large-scale Spanish conglomerate Acciona also is one step closer to establishing its U.S. base in Arlington with the provision of tax breaks. The small Arlington office would hold executive, legal, finance and business development operations.
